The Power of Gratitude in Equestrian Sport

Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of attending Future Eventing’s competition as a sponsor. It was an incredible experience, not only because of the exciting atmosphere of the first event of the season but also because of the genuine gratitude I witnessed and received throughout the weekend.

Sponsoring events is something I truly enjoy. It’s an opportunity to give back to the equestrian community and support riders as they chase their goals. Seeing the competitors put in their best efforts and achieve their personal milestones was inspiring. One of the highlights for me was congratulating riders who had reached their early-season goals—whether it was completing their first event, moving up a level, or simply having a positive experience with their horse. Their smiles, relief, and sense of accomplishment were contagious.

What made the experience even more special was the gratitude shown by the competitors. Several placegetters took the time to come and thank me in person, which was incredibly heartwarming. Others reached out via email to express their appreciation, and many tagged Kingsfield Equestrian in their social media posts to acknowledge the support. Each of these gestures, big or small, reinforced just how important appreciation and community are in our sport.

Gratitude is a powerful thing. In a competitive environment, it can be easy to focus solely on results, but taking a moment to acknowledge those who contribute to making the sport possible creates a stronger, more connected community. As a sponsor, hearing directly from the riders and knowing that my support is valued makes it all the more worthwhile.

A huge thank you also goes to the hardworking committee members, officials, course designers, and volunteers who make these events happen. Their dedication and effort behind the scenes ensure that everything runs smoothly and that riders have a safe and enjoyable competition. Special mention to Jade Moody and Chris Edwards, who didn’t stop all weekend—you two are truly inspirational! Your hard work and commitment to the sport do not go unnoticed, and we are all incredibly grateful for what you do.

To those who took the time to say thank you—whether in person, online, or in writing—please know that your words mean a lot. Gratitude goes both ways, and I am equally thankful to be part of an industry filled with passionate, hardworking riders and supporters.

As the season unfolds, I look forward to seeing more competitors achieve their goals and, most importantly, continue to enjoy the journey with their horses. If you’re competing this season, take a moment to reflect on the people who make it possible—your coaches, event organisers, volunteers, sponsors, and, of course, your horses. A simple thank you goes a long way in strengthening the spirit of our sport.

Here’s to a fantastic season ahead!
